Analisis Pengaruh Admixture Silica Fume Terhadap Kuat Tekan dan Kuat Lentur Beton

Abstract

In concrete production, the use of additives in concrete mixtures aims to alter
and improve concrete properties, as well as enhance its compressive strength. One
such additive is silica fume, a finely divided pozzolan material used as a filler in
concrete mixtures to increase density and composite strength.
This study aims to investigate the influence of adding silica fume as an
admixture on the mechanical properties of concrete, particularly compressive and
flexural strength. The research was conducted using an experimental approach with the experimental variable being a silica fume concentration of 10% by weight
of cement.
The test results indicate that the compressive strength of concrete increased
from 24.26 MPa without the admixture to 27.04 MPa with the addition of 10% silica
fume. This represents an increase of 11.52% in compressive strength due to the use
of silica fume. Furthermore, the flexural strength of concrete also showed a
significant increase, from 2.86 MPa without the admixture to 3.22 MPa with silica
fume addition, indicating an increase of 12.58%. These results indicate that the
addition of silica fume positively affects the mechanical properties of concrete,
enhancing both compressive and flexural strength. This research contributes
significantly to understanding the potential of silica fume as an additive to improve
concrete performance in construction applications.
