The water crisis in many regions of Indonesia is a serious problem, especially
in highland areas such as the mountains. One area that often have water crises
problem is Tlogowatu Village, Kemalang, Klaten. This village is located on the
slopes of Mount Merapi with an rise of 700-1300 meters above sea level. To ensure
that water needs are met, residents and the government buy water at an operational
cost of IDR. 85,000 per 5000 liters.
This research method uses quantitative descriptive with the primary data used
being rainfall, rainwater catchment area, population, and water demand.
The research results show that by harvesting rainwater, the volume of water
that can be stored is 388,167.4 m3/year. With domestic water needs of 165,826,800
liters/year, rainwater can meet 234.08% of the needs of the Tlogowatu Village
population. The savings that can be obtained by implementing a rainwater
harvesting system compared to buying water is IDR. 869,208,810/year.
