Based on Law No. 38 of 2004 concerning the very important role of roads as
part of transportation facilities. Damage to road sections can hinder access from
one area to another. This study aims to determine the type of damage to flexible
pavement on the Dr. Sutomo Section, to determine the value of road conditions on
the Dr. Sutomo Section based on the PCI (Pavement Condition Index) and Surface
Distress Index (SDI) methods and to determine the comparison and level of
accuracy of the PCI (Pavement Condition Index) and Surface Distress Index (SDI)
methods. The SDI method considers the amount of damage and the type of damage is limited to 4 types of damage. While the PCI method considers 19 categories of
damage types.
The research method by collecting data through evaluation of flexible
pavement condition assessment on Dr. Sutomo road section. Primary collection
includes: Determining the length of the road being reviewed, measuring the length
and width of damage, and determining the type of road damage. Supported by
secondary data in the form of road network maps and road condition survey forms.
From the combination of the two data, it was analyzed using the Surface Distress
Index (SDI) and Pavement Condition Index (PCI) methods.
The results of the data analysis concluded that: The types of damage that
occurred were alligator cracking, edge cracking, potholes, depression, patching
and utility cut patching, bumps and sags, and polished aggregate wear. In the PCI
method, the average value was 49.4, including Fair conditions, and the SDI method,
the average value was 101, including Minor Damage conditions.
